Reboot.. Remake... Whats The Diffrence

You've seen it since the dawn of time, movies will constantly be redone. Why? If the originally one was perfectly fine why take your turn with it? Whats the difference even between a "Remake" and a "Reboot"?

I don't know if you have herd the recent news or not of the "Reboot" of the Rocky Horror Picture Show but it is in fact coming. They are even in talks right now of signing the "Glee" director to do it. Why the Glee director? In case you haven't herd that either Glee is doing their own version of Rocky Horror Picture Show. Prefect reason for him to get the job right? bullshit if you ask me. Whats even more of a bullshit move to me is how they even want to reboot this movie anyway. It's one of the best cult classics and is still widely enjoyed. The only reason i can think of to redo.. excuse me.. reboot this is to draw in more money and make it known to all the mindless Glee fans that there was in fact a Rocky Horror Show movie.

Another recent reboot was of "Star Trek". I feel a little differently about this one because it came out with a style and attitude that (forgive me for saying Trekkie's) the original series and films were lacking. And on top of the new found style it had new aspects of the story, such as Spock's (spelling?) mom being killed with the destruction of their own plant. I understand why this is a reboot because the way they set this up they can take the story in a new direction with a new fresh cast.

As for remakes... this one makes me so upset i can hardly stand it. Nightmare On Elm Street... this film by Wes Craven was fantastic, and changed horror films forever. When I herd there was a remake on the way I was stoked but a little hesitant. Upon watching this piece of shit i was so disappointed. All they did was add a few more shots other then that it was the exact same film, with nearly all the same deaths. Only difference being that they could now update their facebook status that they were being picked off one by one by a sweater wearing killer. There was absolutely no reason to redo this movie at all. The only thing good that did is it just justified all the more that Micheal Bay if a worthless good for nothing producer, dircetor, and man.

I now see why we have reboots and not remakes. Not saying i agree with either being done all the time, but sometimes it can be worth something and fun.

Their are lots of reboots said to come out in the next few years, here are a few.
Spider-man
Ghostbusters
Rocky Horror Picture
Hellraiser
Highlander
Daredevil (rumored)
Superman
Fantastic Four
Time Cop
The Crow
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Smurfs
Mortal Kombat
Alien
Mission Impossible
Robocop
Plante of the Apes (really? another one?)
Godzilla

Which are you most excited for?

It's That Time Of Year...

The best time of year that is! I LOVE Halloween! The weather is perfect, the leaves are falling and changing color, and lets not forget all the scary movies that come out!

I'm thinking Hollywood missed the mark this year with horror films, what about you? This season we've had "CASE 39" "MY SOUL TO TAKE" "DEVIL"(if that one even counts) "PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 2" and the last major one, which hasn't hit theaters yet is "SAW 7". Besides the SAW serious finally ending (hopefully) there isn't anything worth while out. Bummer right? It's not a huge deal, i promise. Just means you get to save your horror movie money and put it else where, like to all the awesome DVD/BLU-RAY releases! This holiday season were lucky to have the new line of FANGORIA horror films out. Much like the 8 FILMS TO DIE FOR. brought to us from HORROR FEST.

Not a fan of those sets but still looking for something to enjoy with friends? No problem! Here is a list of fantastic horror films that are sure to do just the job!

Trick R Treat
The Fourth Kind
The Exorcist
The Strangers
Friday The 13th
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
The Lost Boys
House On Haunted Hill
The Hills Have Eyes
Teen Wolf
Halloween

The Water Hole

Since its Thursday you know whats going on... THIRSTY THURSDAYS!!! Your obviously not at the bar if your reading this, but don't worry, I'll give you my own version of bottle service for stopping by.

Thinking today about what I would post today nothing huge came to mind, and after checking the news nothing groundbreaking went down, so I will take this time to fill you in on all the little things going on, and serve as your one stop shop! Enjoy!

First up something most people will be excited for. Seth MacFarlane (Family Guy, American Dad) is taking his shenanigans from late fight adult cartoons to the golden screen! Noooo Family Guy isn't being made into a bi screen film. Seth is taking his crazy ideas into the live action world! The film is called "TEDDY BEAR" but don't be mislead, this isn't your family film. Oh, and did I mention Marky Mark is talked about as being a lead? Yeaahhhh buuddy. As sick of Family Guy as I am I'll admit, I'm kind of excited to see how this turns out. Reminds me of the old "Gregg The Bunny" show. Any one remember that? If you don't know it its one of the most over looked TV shows of all time. Check it!

Second is a story I've been fallowing for awhile. One of the best horror movie trilogies of all time is giving birth to a 4th film. Yes, SCREAM 4 is coming to a theater near you.
Positives?
Original Cast
Wes Craven is still directing (for better or worse)
Hard R rating! (so plenty of blood and guts!!!)

Negatives?
Possible talks for 3-D
Wes Craven may be wayyy past his prime
David Arquette and Courteney Cox are separating so this makes for awkward on screen chemistry, hopefully it wont show through (since they are married in the movie).

All in all I'm keeping an open mind to this film, and you should too.
 LONG LIVE GHOSTFACE!

Now time to let my inner child shine...
I'm sure you have all seen trailers for MEGAMIND the new animated film starring Will Ferral, Brad Pitt, Tina Fey, and Jonah Hill. I'll do one better than just showing you the trailer. How about the first 5 minutes of the new film? Complements of JoBlo. Enjoy. :)

Deadpool Isn't Dead... Yet

A close friend (JASON HARBISON) of mine brought this to my attention yesterday and I thought it would be perfect to share with everyone else!

So are you keeping up with the rumored DEADPOOL film? If so, you'll understand me when I tell you its been a roller coaster ride. Reynolds being the super star he is has gotten TONS of movie offers and at this time has narrowed it down to two. Those films being DEADPOOL and R.I.P.D. both of them being comic books, and both to be said being made for Reynolds. So which to pick? It's all about the race for the script now.
http://www.joblo.com/index.php?id=33957

With the writers of ZOMBIELAND completing the DEADPOOL script I hope its safe to say we have a winner!! This script has the combination of a TARANTINO film meets ZOMBIELAND so how could that not be awesome?! Oh and did i mention the script has gotten no negative reviews thus far? And in case you didn't already know this ROBERT RODRIGUEZ (Spy kids, Once Upon A Time In Mexico, and Planet Terror) is set to direct this masterpiece!

Any word on R.I.P.D at this point has kinda died down, but i don't think its safe to pronounce dead just yet. If your not sure what this is exactly ill post a link for you to check out.
BAM! http://www.darkhorse.com/Books/12-391/R-I-P-D-TPB

What do you think? Ones going to happen, no question about that. Which do you want? Why? LET ME KNOW!!!

3-D Can Suck It

So this is my first blog, so why not shake things up a bit? I'll be honest. I HATE 3-D. I don't know about you but when I see a movie that's being released in 3-D I have absolutely no want to see it. I understand that if your going to pay 10 dollars to see a movie in theaters then why not get the full experience and have shit pop out at you? What could be more fun than being completely engulfed in the movie you watching? How about actually having a true 3-D experience for starters.
Fun fact- 3-D is just meant to add depth to the screen and leave you with a "window effect" by that i mean the feeling of you watching the world happen outside your window. Now with that being said, like watching trough your window objects can still be torn at you, and that's where you'll get some of the "pop", buttttt like i was saying that's not what 3-D is about, so if i were you i would start getting over the old school style of pop out 3-D.

Quality is a big thing movie lovers are looking for these days, that full high definition image right? What if i were to tell you that with 3-D in the theaters your actually losing quality. Let me explain... so every picture has a refresh rate (refresh rate is how many pictures are shown per second across the screen which in turn stops blur and gives you a clean moving picture). For movie theaters that refresh rate is 60hz. For your intro flat screen TV it is also 60hz (which honestly isn't all that great). Next level up would be 120hz, which is pretty common now in flat screens. 240hz is where you will find the best looking picture with an LCD LED flat screen. That isn't even the best however. The max out is 600hz which can be found in plasma screens. Now that you know all about your refresh rate (Hz) I can now tell you that ANYTHING 3-D will cut that in half.

Flashback to you at the movie theater watching your 3-D of choice. Keep in mind your looking at the lowest possible refresh rate, and to top it off your watching it in of course 3-D, so go ahead and cut that in half. Your now at 30hz! TERRIBLE! Now everything "popping out" at you is nothing but a blur of colors. Is it still worth it? So much for quality right?

One more reason (as if its even needed) 3-D can suck it is who really wants to pay to have to wear glasses?! Does any one honestly enjoy wearing those? I find them completely uncomfortable. I mean any one that knows me knows I'm suppose to wear glasses, but don't, simply because i don't like wearing them, or any glasses. Why pay 10 dollars to wear something i hate to watch something blurry pop out at me?

So let me ask you, what was your idea of 3-D? Have you been upset by the 3-D quality of a movie because nothing jumped out at you? Whats been the BEST 3-D movie you've seen? I would also like to know if you agree or disagree with me at all.
I know this is a little choppy, and unorganized... I was just too excited to not quickly post something. Feel free to tell me how you really feel about this article, I love your feedback!
